PIPER ARIEL BELL
Piper is a feminist political philosopher specialising in feminist political economy and social reproduction theory. Her research examines how capitalism organises and devalues reproductive labour and how the conditions of that exploitation generate the possibility of transformative collective praxis. Working within the tradition of social reproduction feminism and historical materialism, she critiques liberal feminist reformism as unable to resolve the structural contradictions it diagnoses, arguing that transformation requires collective struggle from those who bear its costs. Her published work spans academic labour, precarious employment, equity policy critique, and student power. She has taught political philosophy, ethics and sociology for over a decade and holds two Teaching Excellence Awards. She is Reviews Editor for Transnational Literature and an editorial board member for the Canadian Journal of Educational and Social Studies.
